HOSPITAL ADMINISTRATOR
Position Title: Hospital Administrator
Duty Station: Nestcare Clinic, Blantyre, Malawi
Reports to: The Board of Directors

Background: Nestcare Clinic is a maternal and child health clinic located in Blantyre, Malawi. The clinic is committed to delivering high-quality, safe, and compassionate healthcare services. With increasing reliance on technology to support healthcare delivery, administrative operations, and data management, the clinic seeks to recruit a qualified Hospital Administrator to ensure efficient operation of the facility.
Role purpose: The Hospital Administrator will play a critical leadership and management role in ensuring that the facility runs efficiently, safely, and in compliance with regulations. Their responsibilities will span across clinical, financial, operational, and human resources domains.
Key Responsibilities
A. Operational Management
Work with shareholders to finalize the setup of the facility and officially open it.
Oversee day-to-day operations of the facility.
Coordinate departments (nursing, laboratory, pharmacy etc) to ensure smooth workflow.
Ensure the clinic is adequately staffed and equipped.
Any other duties relating to hospital administration as may be assigned.
B. Financial Management
Develop and manage the clinic budget.
Monitor expenses and revenue.
Approve purchases of equipment and supplies.
Ensure proper billing and reimbursement processes (e.g., from insurance companies, government programs).
C. Human Resource Management
Hire, train, and supervise non-clinical and administrative staff.
Manage employee relations, salaries, and benefits.
Oversee staff scheduling and performance evaluations.
D. Regulatory Compliance
Ensure the hospital complies with local, and state laws.
Maintain accreditation standards (e.g., from Medical Council and Nursing Council of Malawi and other regulatory bodies).
Implement and monitor patient safety and quality assurance protocols.
E. Strategic Planning
Set long-term goals and develop strategic initiatives.
Analyse healthcare trends and data to improve services.
Lead expansion projects or the introduction of new service lines.
F. Communication & Public Relations
Act as a liaison between the board of directors, medical staff, and community stakeholders.
Handle media relations and public information campaigns.
Address patient or staff concerns and complaints.
G. Technology & Information Systems Oversight
Advance the use of health information systems (e.g., EHRs).
Ensure data security and patient confidentiality.
Support the adoption of telemedicine and other tech innovations.
H. Quality & Patient Care Improvement
Promote high standards of patient care and customer service.
Analyze performance data to identify areas for improvement.
Facilitate training and development for continuous improvement.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelors degree in a relevant field (Business Administration, Public Health, Health Administration or a degree in a clinical field plus management training)
2 - 3 years of experience working in administration in a healthcare setting
Demonstrate ability in managing teams, supervising staff and management of general operations.

Working Conditions
The Clinic will offer 24-hour services, 7 days a week. The Hospital Administrator is expected to work from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday, and offer on-call services (as needed) over the weekend.
Supervision and Performance Evaluation
Reports to the Board of Directors.
Subject to annual performance reviews based on professionalism, punctuality, communication, and customer satisfaction.
